Your doctor will refer you to one of our practice nurses who will conduct this test for you.   It is a non invasive procedure that is painless and takes about 20 minutes

24 HOUR BLOOD PRESSURE MONITORING 

As many as 20% of people thought to have high blood pressure, have normal readings once they leave the doctors surgery. This syndrome is called “white coat” hypertension and is due to the anxiety associated with having your blood pressure taken. Wearing a BP monitor for 24 hours can easily establish the true picture. Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring will also help determine the degree of risk your blood pressure is causing and help decide whether or not you need drug therapy.

When the doctor refers you for this test, one of our practice nurses will ring you to arrange a suitable time for fitting this device. 

You will be advised to return to the surgery the following day, were the nurse will remove the equipment in order to take the readings for the doctor. You will be contacted within a couple of days with your results
